Solidiwood process technology products

Compact Solidiwood process technology enables 2-3D hot-press drying of products, heat treatment, stress relief, straightening, increased bending strength and stiffness, gluing from several parts, cutting to set length, profiling and sizing, as well as densified smooth, topographic or textured surfaces, together with their pressurised patching and coating with various substances and/or films. All of this is possible as highly automated 24/7 production and in as little as a few hours.

In Solidiwood process technology, the wood blank is treated both with the wood material’s own binders and with added treatment chemicals/materials selected from impregnating agents, fillers/primers, and surface treatment and adhesive agents/films/scrims.

Solidiwood process technology hot-forms sawn timber in 2-3D directions into high-grade processed products in a single device / process. The technology enables production of the above functions optimised for each product.

The service life of the equipment needed for forming is many times that of the equipment for conventional, i.e. chip-removing, machining.

It makes most sense to design and produce Solidiwood press units tailored to each application area / product. This is an essential basic starting point for the business results of the Solidi business concept / Solidiwood process technology.

The Solidiwood press is multi-layered. In addition to the plates that press the flat faces of the product, it also has “plates” that press the side faces and, where necessary, the end faces: single- or multi-part pressing tools. The pressing elements are heated by electrical resistance or by hot oil circulated through them.

Using the press is well worthwhile even when it is loaded and unloaded by hand, but mechanising the work is of course justified, all the way to automation. Loading and unloading equipment replaces the stickering machine required for conventional drying, the equipment for dismantling stickered stacks, and the use of stickers along with the equipment it requires.

The press loading and unloading equipment can also be developed and built with current know-how. Results will begin to emerge once the task is assigned to Teijo Ruuth and technology companies in the field.
