Patenting is part of business strategy in the technology industry, and in the wood products industry too. Its aim is to protect against imitators and to defend one's own market share – or to win new share.
A patent publication is both a legal document and a technical publication. A patent can be granted only for a solution that is new, inventive and industrially applicable. Industrial applicability means that the invention works as described and can be reproduced.
